Browser
Browser
Access a full Chromium browser inside your Calliope workspace for tasks that require browsing within the secure perimeter.
Why a Browser Inside Calliope?
Sometimes you need to browse the web from within your workspace:
- Access internal resources - Corporate intranets, private dashboards, or services only accessible from within the network
- Test web applications - Preview apps running on localhost through the proxy
- Download files - Grab datasets, documentation, or resources directly into your workspace
- OAuth flows - Complete authentication flows that require a browser
- Web scraping - Interact with sites that require JavaScript rendering
Launching the Browser
- Go to The Hub at calliope.ai
- Click Browser from the dashboard
- A Chromium browser opens via web VNC
The browser runs inside your Calliope workspace, so it has access to the same network and resources as your other tools.
Privacy by Default
The included Chromium browser has been configured with privacy in mind:
| Setting | Status |
|---|---|
| Telemetry | Disabled |
| Usage tracking | Disabled |
| Crash reporting | Disabled |
| Search suggestions | Disabled |
Your browsing activity stays within your workspace.
Accessing Localhost Services
The browser is particularly useful for testing web applications you’re developing. If you have a service running on port 9000:
- Start your service in a terminal
- Open the Chromium browser
- Navigate to
http://localhost:9000
This gives you direct access without going through the proxy—useful for debugging and development.
Tips
- Bookmarks - Bookmark frequently accessed internal resources
- Developer Tools - Press
F12to open Chrome DevTools for debugging - Downloads - Files download directly to your workspace filesystem
- Copy/Paste - Use the VNC clipboard panel for copying text between your local machine and the browser
